Energy island prototype supplies first power

Tests have commenced for the Danish-German power grid connection going through offshore wind turbines in the Baltic. This happens a few days after the connection was announced delayed – for the seventh time.

Monday saw a world premiere in the Baltic Sea. Although it was the kind of exclusive event that only invites a select few. Because while the Danish and German power grids were connected for the first time via the Kriegers Flak Combined Grids Solution (CGS), this was but a preliminary test. The connection, the first of its kind, is not expected to be fully operational until late September.
