EU Parliament ups ante on CO2 target

EU parliamentarians vote in favor of 60-percent carbon reductions by 2030, setting the stage for a tense battle with EU member states.
Sweden's Jytte Guteland received a lot of media coverage back in 2017 for bringing her small child into the EU Parliament to vote. Today, she received a mandate from the parliament to fight for a 60-percent reduction of carbon emissions in 2030. As such, the parliament now prepares to a tough fight with EU members, among which many think the target is far too high. | Photo: Vincent Kessler/Reuters/Ritzau Scanpix
