UK central bank gets new mandate to promote green shift via monetary policy

The Bank of England could end up favoring credit for green projects looking forward, senior economist says. Swedish central bank Riksbank is also underway with the same maneuver.

The Bank of England has received a new mandate: The central bank will no longer only set its monetary policy based on inflation but will now also take account of climate change mitigation efforts.
