Head of Sustainable Investments Sigrid Wilter Slørstad from Nordic financial group Nordea's life insurance arm, Nordea Liv, tells Norwegian media Dagens Næringsliv that investors have started changing their views on climate investment in recent years, and after the publication of the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report, she thinks investors will be more concerned with whether companies cut enough emissions.
"Investors have adopted a more absolute approach to sustainability and climate change mitigation. Before, people used to be concerned with positive changes and reducing emissions, but now I think investors will be more occupied with whether companies 'cut' enough. The goal is zero emissions," Slørstad tells DN.
"Investors will be even more concerned with intermediate, short-term goals, and companies will be more transparent about their emission figures, so presenting them will be as natural as publishing a financial report," she adds.
She thinks the consequences of not reaching the goal of net zero emissions before 2050 is clearly detailed in the report, and that climate change has never been more obvious. She says a lot of good measures are being taken, but that they're not enough.
