EU antitrust chief suggests simplifying rules to promote green project subsidy

The EU Commission proposes removing the approval procedure to benefit green transition and digitization efforts – potentially welcome news for energy optimization and CCS projects.

It should be easier and quicker for member states to award state subsidies in support of climate change mitigation efforts without creating "unreasonable competitive distortions" to the European Union's internal market, says EU Commission Executive Vice President Margrethe Vestager, who thus proposes amending the so-called general block exemption ordinance.
