German investigators are examining evidence that seem to suggest that a team of saboteurs used Poland as its base of operations when it conducted sabotage on the Nord Stream pipelines in September of last year, writes the Wall Street Journal on Saturday.

The investigators have reconstructed the entire two week-long voyage for the yacht ”Andromeda” which is suspected to have been involved in the disruptive act.

Allegedly, the investigative team has demonstrated that the yacht veered from its target to sail into Polish waters.

Furthermore, the newspaper also claims that the team used data from the ship’s radio and navigational equipment, satellites, cellphones, e-mail account, as well as traced DNA left on the yacht.

The German investigators have seemingly tried to connect the DNA to at least one Ukrainian soldier.

Neither Germany’s federal police and the office of the prime minister of Poland have replied to Reuter’s requests for comments.

Last week, US newspaper the Washington Post wrote that the US knew about a Ukrainian plot to attack the gas pipelines three months prior to their battering via underwater explosions.

On Sep. 26, 2022, there was report of a leakage on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

The next morning two other leaks were found on Nord Stream 1, northeast of the Danish isle of Bornholm. A total of four gas leaks were confirmed on the two pipelines.

The explosions happened in Denmark and Sweden’s respective economic zones. Both countries have concluded that the explosions were executed as part of a sabotage mission, but there has not been any conclusions as whom were behind the attacks.

Due to some of the attacks taking place inside Denmark’s economic zone of the Baltic Sea, Denmark has the right to investigate the seabed in the zone.

In March, German medias identified a yacht – owned by a Polish company that was, in turn, owned by Ukrainian citizens – that might have been involved in the sabotage.
