Media: German government increases pressure on Siemens

Had Siemens stepped up to the plate, the requested guarantee of more than EUR 15bn would have become a reality, government sources tell Handelsblatt.

Last week, Siemens Energy confirmed its desire for a financial bailout from the German government. This happened after a remarkable number of German media outlets were able to quote anonymous government sources to this effect, adding to the political irritation that the main shareholder, Siemens AG, was reluctant to participate in said rescue operation.
