Swedish solar momentum risks getting stuck in the system

Large solar farms in particular have found it increasingly difficult to get through the Swedish system. Developer considers looking elsewhere.

As in many other countries, solar expansion has exploded in Sweden in recent years. Last year, around 1.2-1.4GW of new capacity was added to the Swedish grid, which, according to the industry organization Swedish Solar Energy Association, corresponds to a 58% increase in production from the previous year. However, the massive expansion is at risk of fizzling out.
