Struggling foundation manufacturer to shut down in Scotland and dismiss 260

After a dramatic rescue in the autumn, Scotland's BiFab is now left without work for a majority of its employees and is seeking to close two yards. "The workers there have fought for their future and it is difficult to believe that it can now be snatched away from them," says a spokesperson for the employees' union.

Management of the struggling jacket foundation manufacturer has notified its employees that it will close its yards in Fife and Arnish in Scotland at the end of June, with 260 members of the permanent staff facing redundancy. The closures are attributed to a lack of orders.
