North German wind in crisis

Thousands of jobs from the wind sector have disappeared over the past year. Unclear frameworks are hindering necessary investments.

Things are not going well for the wind turbine industry in Northern Germany. Last year, only 56 new wind installations received permits, while the 2016 figure was for 285 installations. At the same time, at least 2,000 jobs disappeared from the sector in North Germany, according gloomy projections from the region's sector made to Danish media Jyskevestkysten.
