Vattenfall: Subsidy-free offshore wind requires higher ambitions

If Denmark does not raise its ambitions, Danish energy minster Lars Christian Lilleholt may have to abandon hope of subsidy-free offshore wind farms, warns Vattenfall.

The Danish government's energy proposal includes the plans for one new 800 MW offshore wind farm, but the plan omits any commitments for developing additional wind projects. The lacking synergy and advantages of scale multiple wind farms provide will, according to the Vattenfall CEO, most likely entail continued need for subsidies, reports Danish business daily Børsen.
