French firm Engie takes home French solar victory

Engie has secured subsidies for 25 solar projects in the fourth French solar tender.

French firm Engie has secured 230 MW via its subsidiaries in the latest French solar tender where 710 MW were up for grabs, announced the utility in a press release.

This was the fourth round of the CRE4 tender where Engie has now won a total 550 MW. In the fourth round, the average price was EUR 52.1 per MWh via subsidiaries Engie Green, LANGA and Compagnie Nationale du Rhône.

Today, Engie already has more than 1,000 MW installed in France, while according to the company the plan is to more than double this to 2.2 GW in 2021.

"With this new record, ENGIE is once again showing its great dynamism and leadership in this fast-growing sector. It is through concrete and tangible results that we will be able to respond to the major challenges of the energy transition and thereby contribute to harmonious progress in France," says Gwenaëlle Huet, CEO of ENGIE France Renewables, in the press release.
