Canadian utility names Vestas for US expansion

A Canadian utility has secured safe harbor components from both Vestas and Siemens Gamesa for expanding wind energy capacity by around 1 GW up to 2020, however, the project developer has primarily negotiated deals with the Danish manufacturer.

Vestas appears set to reap around 1 GW in orders from Canadian utility Algonquin Power & Utilities. During a teleconference in connection with the Canadian company's third quarter report, CEO Ian Robertson told that agreements have been made with the Danish wind turbine producer to supply a number of projects in the US, said Robertson when asked about the expected expansion up to 2020.
