Industry fears more expensive offshore wind after Danish government announcement

The Danish government will introduce concessional payments for offshore wind, similarly to the model applied to North Sea oil. This is a bad signal to investors, says wind turbine association.

Offshore wind in Denmark could be shifting from state subsidized to state controlled. Friday morning, the Danish government announced a decision to reserve any Danish offshore areas which could be used for the construction of offshore winds for future government tenders. However, it also suggested that future project developers will have to pay to install the turbines.
