Siemens Gamesa launches 5MW platform

The manufacturer follows Vestas and GE with the launch of its 5MW, 170-diameter rotor wind turbine – and with gears.

Siemens Gamesa is now joining the club of companies manufacturing large wind turbines. Tuesday morning, the producer announced its new 5X platform, featuring two new models, SG5.8-155 and SG5.8-170. Siemens Gamesa informs that these turbines will deliver 32 percent more energy than the currently largest turbine, SG4.5-145.
