Vestas takes another step toward the unknown

Similar to its previous nominations, the wind turbine manufacturer appoints a relatively unknown profile as its new CEO. But even though he is taking over a far more viable company than the imperiled estate inherited by his predecessor, the task at hand will be no less demanding.

Tuesday evening's announcement of Vestas Chief Executive Anders Runevad's resignation came as a surprise for practically every interested party outside the company's innermost circle. And observers were likely equally surprised by Runevad's replacement by a relatively unknown profile: Henrik Andersen, a 51-year old master of law and now former CEO of paint producer Hempel, one of Vestas' suppliers, with around one-tenth the wind turbine manufacturer's revenue.
