MHI Vestas rents megaturbine test center, snubs Siemens Gamesa

Wind turbines with ratings of 10-12 MW were only barely attached to their offshore foundations before MHI Vestas aimed to test hardware with capacity of up to 20 MW. The Danish-Japanese company has leased a space in a new test center, slated for completion in January 2021.

Offshore wind is in the process of mutating into gigantic proportions, and MHI Vestas has now reserved space in a forthcoming test center on the Danish island of Funen. The facility will test offshore wind turbines with capacities of up to 20 MW, reports Danish business daily Børsen.
