Siemens Gamesa has secured a 20-year operations and maintenance (O&M) contract for a 135 MW Senvion-equipped wind farm in Australia .

To provide improved service on the Australian facilities, the OEM is also investing in an inventory of Senvion spare parts in order to optimize time spent on service projects.

"Leveraging its 10-year expertise of servicing turbines of other manufacturers and our recent successful acquisition of Senvion’s European Services assets and Intellectual Property, Siemens Gamesa is uniquely positioned to serve our customers in all markets," writes Siemens Gamesa APAC Region Service Chief Executive Joris Mazille in a press statement.

In January, the Spanish-Germany company completed a purchase of certain Senvion assets that were heavily impacted by the tighter competitive market situation.

Among other items, this acquisition entailed Senvion's European service business on 8.9 GW as well as intellectual property rights for an aggregated price of EUR 200 million.

The German-Spanish manufacturer's global service portfolio includes an approximate total of 72 GW, and the group has installed combined capacity of more than 8.4 GW in the Asia Pacific region.
