Developer poised to build 560 MW Danish offshore wind project in 2023

The Danish Energy Agency approves preliminary surveys for two coastal offshore wind farms, which European Energy has been developing since 2014. The plan is to complete these by deploying onshore turbines within the next few years – if legal complaints don't continue to delay the process.

Wednesday last week, the Danish government presented its wind energy plans with pomp and circumstance. By 2030, the country must establish the world's first two so-called energy islands with 4 GW in combined capacity, but details are still sparse regarding technical feasibility as well as how much it will cost to establish this massive infrastructure, entailing expenses for both land reclamation and transmission systems.
