Norway opens up to 4.5 GW of offshore wind

The Norwegian government opens to license applications for offshore wind both at the border with Denmark and at an upcoming oil field, where Aker BP hopes to set up wind turbines.

For the first time, Norway opens up to license applications for offshore wind areas. The Norwegian government has decided that regions Sørlige Nordsjø II at the border with Denmark and Utsira Nord off the coast of Haugesund will open to applications. Combined, the two regions are expected to house a capacity of 4.5 GW, the government announces on Friday.
