Within the last three months, Vestas has secured no less than six orders totaling 455 MW from Vietnam's booming wind market.

Now Siemens Gamesa follows suit with double order for 75 MW and 90 MW for the Tan Thuan and Thai Hoa projects, respectively.

The supply contracts entail 36 model SG 5.0-145 featuring flexible generation, and the deal includes a 10-year service agreement for Tan Thuan and 20-year ditto for Thai Hoa.

"We’re pleased to see the Siemens Gamesa 4.X platform gaining a great deal of traction in Vietnam from the debut for our first nearshore project to the recent largest order and the combined 165 MW for two deals we are announcing today," writes Enrique Pedrosa, chief regions officer of Siemens Gamesa’s onshore business unit in a press statement.

Siemens Gamesa's latest order from Vietnam also pertained the 4.X platform. Back in March, the OEM won a deal for 25 type SG 4.5-145 wind turbines for Hoa Tang 1.2.

Vietnam's government has set a wind capacity target of 6 GW by 2030.
