Siemens Gamesa's new superweapon delayed

Establishment of the company's 5-MW platform prototypes has been postponed by around five months, though the turbine maker denies any risk of delays for the many projects to be installed in 2021.

At this point, both prototypes of Siemens Gamesa's 5.X platform should have been fully operational. Whereas the SG 5.8-155 model was originally slated for installation at the test center in Alaiz in mid-2020, the larger SG 5.8-170 was meant to have been installed at Høvsøre in the third quarter of the year. And production of the two types was scheduled for Q4 2020 and Q1 2021, respectively.
