Houston, we have no problem.

Ørsted has now taken its final investment decision for a solar project rated at 430 MWAC to be located in Fort Bind near Houston, Texas.

The power company says it plans to commission the project in the second half of 2022 and also informs that a long-term power purchase agreement has been signed for the facility, going by the name of Old 300.

"With its location close to Houston, Old 300 will further diversify our onshore footprint into a premium market with strong long-term fundamentals," writes Ørsted Onshore Chief Commercial Officer Vishal Kapadia in press statement, continuing.

"We're excited to add another large-scale, attractively contracted solar project to our portfolio. Solar is the fastest-growing power generation technology in the world and will continue to play a key role in our growth going forward."

With this latest addition, Ørsted now has 1.1 GW in solar capacity under development, while the group's consolidated effect of onshore wind, photovoltaics and energy storage projects in development now totals to 3.4 GW.
