Lifecycle of Danish offshore wind icon could be extended by decades

Since 2001, Danish wind farm Middelgrunden has stood as one of Copenhagen's green trademarks. Now, utility Hofor means to extend the facility's service life by up to 25 years by replacing worn-down components.

When passenger jets swing toward the Copenhagen Airport, 20 wind turbines of the Bonus 76 variety stand in a welcoming row in the middle of the Øresund sound, making up the offshore wind farm Middelgrunden.
