Floating wind firm offers bright, but tough-to-implement idea to oil sector

Danish company Floating Power Plant is ready to pursue commercialization of its combined floating wind and wave power technology. The firm has just concluded a state-funded project in cooperation with several international oil players. The challenge will be to broaden the concept to more countries.

The team behind a recently concluded pilot project supported by funding from the Danish state's Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUPD) now says it's found a formula the oil and gas sector can use to make itself greener. Explained briefly, this entails electrifying offshore fossil fuel extraction with a combination of wind and wave power.
