GE opens European battleground in patent war against Siemens Gamesa

The US-based OEM has filed a lawsuit against its rival for patent violation at British offshore wind farms in a move that could cause, among other things, delays for Ørsted's coming development. Siemens Gamesa rejects the allegations.

The patent war between GE and Siemens Gamesa is spreading into new fronts. The US-based industrial conglomerate filed litigation shortly before New Year's at a UK patents court, alleging that Siemens Gamesa had illegitimately used GE's proprietary technology in its offshore wind turbines – the same purported IP violation that landed in a US court of commerce in July last year, Siemens Gamesa confirms in communication with EnergyWatch following reportage from legal media Law360 on Friday.
