The phenomenon of making comparisons between wind turbines and iconic buildings has turned into a classical discipline, not least for wind power at sea. However, whereas it's normally turbine size that's held up against structures like the Eiffel Tower, giant ferris wheels or skyscrapers, now the exercise turns to a much less imposing component: foundations.
