Germany has received the OK from the EU Commission for its new offshore wind subsidy model. The model passed last year and will facilitate the planned expansion from the current capacity of almost 8 GW to 20 GW by 2030 and to 40 GW by 2040 via, initially, a number of annual tenders up until 2025.
"The Commission found that the aid is proportionate and limited to the minimum necessary, as the level of aid will be set through competitive tenders," states the Commission.
