Ming Yang overtakes western offshore wind

As Vestas and Siemens Gamesa work on their forthcoming offshore wind turbines, the Chinese manufacturer declares the world's largest offshore unit ready to enter the market from the South China Sea to the North Sea in Europe.

The world's largest wind turbine under development now counts 16MW. Chinese manufacturer Ming Yang on Friday announces its forthcoming offshore wind turbine MySE 16.0-242, which, as the name indicates, will be larger in both capacity and rotor diameter than the models of Vestas, Siemens Gamesa and GE Renewable Energy. Even with the same schedule as the western OEM's, with commercial production set for 2024.
