Siemens Gamesa relaunches 5.X platform

The turbine maker's cornerstone in the recently postponed reestablishment of its onshore division is upgraded to formally the same size as at the time of the debut order in 2019.

Siemens Gamesa's 5.X platform has so far been an ambivalent affair for the wind turbine manufacturer.

The large onshore model has repeatedly been hailed by Chief Executive Andreas Nauen as the "cornerstone" to finally reestablish the loss-making onshore division, which was the main reason that predecessor Markus Tacke was fired last year. Alongside, of course, better project execution following several costly delays.
