RWE wins Danish offshore wind tender Thor

Five out of six tender rivals vying for rights to develop Denmark's next offshore wind farm submitted the lowest permitted bid to establish the project's 1GW: Ørsted, CIP and Andel, Total and Iberdrola, and Vattenfall.

The Christmas tree in the Danish Energy Agency's (DEA) foyer was being decorated Wednesday morning, while outside the building sleet fell from the skies, requiring a high degree of Yuletide spirit to be interpreted as snow – a spirit that only RWE could really muster in the end when the German power company was declared the tender's winner, thereby granted rights to build Thor, the DEA officially announces Wednesday afternoon.
