Utility EDP Renewables, the world’s fourth largest renewable energy producer, added capacity of 2.6GW in 2021, which set a new record and increased the installed portfolio to 13.6GW.

This can be read from the annual accounts published Wednesday by the company.

”Despite the difficult context in which we have had to operate during 2021, EDPR has achieved record growth. These figures reflect our steady progress towards achieving the targets set out in the strategic plan,” says CEO Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade in a comment on the results.

In the 2021-’25 strategic plan, EDPR targets an increase in installed capacity to 20GW.

The 2021 results show an increase in net profit of 18 percent to EUR 655m.

Before the turn of the year, EDPR had 1.8GW under construction, of which 1,592MW of wind onshore and 232MW of solar.

Around noon Wednesdays, the EDPR share climbed 3 percent to EUR 17.86 at the Lisbon stock exchange. EDPR is headquartered in Madrid, but the majority shareholder is Portuguese Energias de Portugal with a 75-percent stake.
