Vestas has reclaimed its position as the world's largest supplier of wind turbines, shows a report Wednesday from Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), which the year prior had acclaimed Generel Electric Renewable Energy as the biggest OEM.

According to BNEF, global wind deliveries totaled 99.2GW last year, 15.2GW of which were supplied by Vestas, thereby coming out on top of the list.

Chinese Goldwind ranks second with 12GW, followed by Siemens Gamesa with 8.64GW.

GE's decline is attributed to the slump in the manufacturer's home market in the US, where 2021 installations fell by 22 percent, BNEF highlights.

The 99.2GW delivered globally last year also set a record. The preceding year's total was 98.5GW, which also set a record at the time.

Onshore wind comprised 83 percent of the total, while offshore units accounted for the remaining 16.6GW.

China was the world's largest wind market last year and commissioned 55.8GW, while the US took second place against with installations of 13GW.
