New York State has chosen a Canadian player to help install more renewable energy. Boralex is thus selected to establish five solar farms equipped with energy storage in five cities in the state.

The largest facility, Fort Covington of 250 MW, will also be fitted with a 77MW storage system. Other projects include Newport of 130MW, the 130MW Fort Edward, Foothills of 40MW, and Easton of 20MW.

Combined, these five farms are projected to generate more than 1TWh annually, enough to supply around 141,200 households.

“Today’s announcement solidifies Boralex’s role in New York State’s energy market during this critical expansion of renewable electricity generation,” said Boralex President and Chief Executive Patrick Decostre in a statement:

“These projects showcase the strategic, creative approaches to solar farm development and community engagement our reputation is built on. I am proud of the Boralex team and their efforts to create clean, competitive energy.”
