With funding from Danish utility Ørsted, Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is launching a collaborative research project with Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), the biggest university in Vietnam.
Together, the two universities will facilitate training and knowledge sharing among students, researchers and university teachers and thereby strengthen expertise within offshore wind, which could prove crucial for Vietnam in the future.
The end goal of the new collaboration is to set up an Offshore Wind R&D, Training and Industrial Development Centre under the National Innovation Centre, which is to help Vietnam achieve success on wind at sea.
”This agreement brings together some of the brightest minds in offshore wind to enhance talent, technology and training in Vietnam. It will deliver meaningful joint research and training activities that will benefit Vietnam’s offshore wind sector as a whole and act as a springboard for further important activities,” says Country Manager of Ørsted Vietnam Sebastian Hald Buhl.
The university collaboration is the opening initiative of the flagship Memorandum of Understanding between Ørsted, T&T Group and the National Innovation Centre under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, signed during a royal visit to Vietnam in November.
