Time is of the essence whenever repairs are needed to ensure renewable energy is delivered to its intended destination. On account of this, a quick dispatch is a crucial element when unexpected malfunctions occur, and cable maker NKT aims to make this happen with a new storage solution.

”We see a growing demand for quick responses in case of emergencies and with the upgraded storage solutions, we now provide even faster mobilization to our customers,” says Executive Vice President and Head of Service at NKT Axel Barnekow Widmark.

As part of the solution, NKT stores reserve cables in a customized basket, which awards protection against external environmental effects. According to the cable manufacturer, the solution is cost-efficient and requires less upkeep.

The new storage solution has already been implemented by British Britned, which is in charge of the interconnector between the Netherlands and the UK. The company is the first to use the storage option at NKT’s plant in Karlskrona, Sweden.
