Estonian renewables developer Evecon has signed a contract with French private equity firm Mirova for a 70MW solar farm in western Estonia.

Measured in megawatts, the photovoltaic project would be the biggest of its kind in all of the Baltics, reports Estonian media ERR.

Construction is set to begin in 2023, and first power is expected in 2024.

”Over the next six years, we will be constructing 2.5 gigawatt-hours worth of renewable capacity in Estonia and the Baltic region. Plans include wind, solar and storage using which we could cover the needs of 540,000 households and offer supply security after desynchronization from the Russian grid,” says Evecon board member, according to the media.

From fall 2022, Evecon has 1.1GW of solar energy projects and 700MW of wind energy projects in development towards 2026.
