US wind turbine manufacturer GE Renewable Energy plans to build two factories in the state of New York which will manufacture offshore wind turbines.

This plan is contingent upon the company winning a sufficient volume of orders in connection with offshore wind solicitations of 4.6GW.

The General Electric group announces this news after presenting a significant deficit for the wind division earlier this week.

One of the facilities will involve blade manufacturing through the formerly Danish-owned subsidiary LM Wind Power, requiring 650 new hires if the plan pans out.

GERE posted a USD 454m, adding to a total deficit of USD 2,240m in 2022.
