Chinese turbine maker Envision Energy has unveiled a new wind turbine vying to become the biggest in the onshore wind market with a nominal capacity of 10MW, reports Recharge News.

The new model, EN-220/10MW, has the biggest rotor diameter of any onshore wind turbine in the market with a design that makes it suited for installation in provinces of northern China.

Earlier in the year, another Chinese wind turbine manufacturer, Mingyang Smart Energy, claimed to have designed the biggest onshore wind turbine with a capacity of 8.5MW.

Both of these models are bigger than any being built by Western competitors like Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, Nordex and General Electric Renewable.

In onshore wind, Chinese companies are also ahead on nominal capacity after launching new turbines with a capacity range of 16-18MW. In comparison, Vestas’ biggest model comes with a capacity of 15MW.
