A Vestas prototype of a V236 wind turbine has reached 15MW in nominal power at the national test center in Østerild mere months after installation, the Danish turbine manufacturer writes on LinkedIn.

The turbine prototype was installed at the Østerild center in December 2022, producing its first kWh shortly thereafter. The turbine has since been through a production ramp-up period, ultimately reaching 15MW last week.

”The next step of the extensive test and verification program is to run unattended operations followed by multiple test disciplines like power curve and loads campaigns. Congratulations to everyone involved in reaching this important milestone,” Vestas writes.
