On Tuesday, US state of Massachusetts announced plans of adding 3.6GW of offshore wind projects to its installed capacity, writes Recharge News.

The state already issued a draft request for proposal (RFP) for its fourth round of solicitation in the start of next year.

The state is an offshore wind pacesetter, domestically, with 3.2GW already under contract, including flagship Vineyard Wind 1, which has Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) among its owners.

The draft RFP enables the state to select projects ranging from 400MW to 2.4GW.

New Jersey and New York currently holds an edge on Massachusetts with 3.7GW and 4.2GW, respectively.

Vineyard Wind is slated for an 800MW capacity and CIP shares project ownership with Avangrid Renewables, a subsidiary to Spanish Iberdrola.
