German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex announces a wind turbine order on its domestic market Thursday morning and is generally positive about prospects in the large market.

The order has come from wind farm developer REA and includes 12 turbines with a total capacity of 43 megawatts to be installed in the Erftstadt-Friesheim wind farm.

The agreement also includes a 20-year service agreement, the German turbine manufacturer writes in Thursday’s statement.

”We are pleased that this project can now be realized and that, in addition, the trend of solid demand in our home market is continuing. As in the first few months of the year, Germany was also one of our strongest markets in the second quarter, with orders totaling around 200MW,” says Karsten Brüggemann, head of Nordex in the German market.

While the latest German tender round for wind projects was undersuscribed, bidding results for onshore wind in the first half of the year also show a positive trend, according to Nordex.

In February and May, contracts were awarded to developers for projects with a capacity of almost 3GW, and Nordex turbines are behind around 30 percent of them, Brüggemann adds.

”Further tenders will take place on August 1 and November 1 this year. Throughout the whole of 2022, only 3,295 MW was awarded for onshore wind,” Nordex writes.
