3D printed towers to enable 15MW onshore wind turbines

In eight to ten years, 3D printing of wind turbine towers will be the norm, according to Cobod’s CEO, who wants to break the existing height limits in a new EUDP-supported project.

In its first 5 years, Cobod has printed a total of 20 meters of wind turbine towers. While the company’s office on the outermost bank of Copenhagen’s Nordhavn is still so limited that a swing of the arm of one of the company’s 3D concrete printers could clear most office desks. Nevertheless, ambitions and expectations are big. Well, if not unlimited:
