Once again, Ørsted has chosen Mammoet-Giant to do the heavy lifting for them. Just like on the first phase of the Greater Changhua offshore wind cluster, the Dutch/Taiwanese joint venture will be lifting foundations for the next phase, where farms 2b and 4 will be constructed.

The joint venture will handle the marshalling and lifting of the project’s 66 suction bucket jackets, first from the transport vessel to the quay in Taiwan and then on board the vessels that will bring the foundations to the site. This will be done using the company’s ring crane, which can handle 5,000 tonnes - equivalent to the weight of two of the project’s suction buckets.

”We are thrilled and honored to have been awarded the contract to help construct Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms. Mammoet-Giant remains steadfast in our mission to deliver exceptional performance and contribute to the sustainable growth of Taiwan’s renewable energy sector,” says Mammoet Taiwan Managing Director Chris Schraa in a press release.

By temporarily loading the foundations, which are being built by HSG Sungdong in South Korea, directly onto the quayside in Taiwan and back onto the other vessels, precious time is saved on repositioning, Mammoet-Giant says.
