Siemens Gamesa's offshore wind orders cannot be completed without losses

The bill for the much-publicized, quality-challenged onshore wind turbines amounts to EUR 1.6bn. The quarterly report also reveals major losses from offshore wind and reports of an untenable sector.

The bill for rectifying the much-publicized failure rates with its onshore turbines costs Siemens Gamesa EUR 1.6 bn in the company’s latest quarter. This makes the quality issues on the 4.X and 5.X platforms by far the biggest factor behind the turbine manufacturer’s quarterly loss of EUR 2.56bn.
