Prysmian Group has been appointed preferred bidder by German grid operator Amprion for a cable contract worth EUR 4.5bn.

Specifically, the agreement covers cable connections for the two offshore wind projects Balwin1 and Balwin2, as well as the DC34 underground cable project.

”The preferred bidder agreement provides an obligation on the parties to negotiate in good faith the outstanding items of the projects with a target to execute the final contracts by January 15, 2024. Prysmian is obliged to reserve the necessary production and installation capacity until the said date,” a joint announcement from Amprion and Prysmian stated on Tuesday.
