On Tuesday, Ørsted received a positive record of decision from the US federal authorities for the construction of Revolution Wind, according to a press release from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, BOEM.

Revolution Wind is a 704MW offshore wind project jointly owned by Ørsted and Eversource and, subject to a final investment decision, will be constructed off the coast of Rhode Island.

The project is shared by the states of Rhode Island and Connecticut, which will receive power from 400MW and 304MW respectively.

Tuesday’s permit is the fourth from BOEM during President Joe Biden’s administration. Bidenhas a goal to build 30GW of offshore capacity by 2030. Ørsted is involved in two of the other offshore wind projects that have been approved, South Fork and Ocean Wind 1, while Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) is involved in the fourth, Vineyard Wind.

Ørsted and Eversource are also jointly developing the Sunrise Wind project, which is expected to receive BOEM approval later this year, according to Recharge News.
