A nerve-wracking drama unfolded when the US Offshore Wind Authority held the tender of five pieces of seabed off the coast of New York last February. Over 3 days and 64 rounds, most of the industry’s heavyweights fought intensely to lease the areas for potential offshore wind farms. A contest that ended up costing the US treasury a staggering USD 4.37bn.
