Siemens Gamesa calls for tax rebate after tender failure

The UK is on course to lose its grip on the offshore wind industry if action is not taken now, according to the turbine manufacturer.

The higher you climb, the further you have to fall. The once vaunted UK tendering regime came crashing down to earth with a bang on Friday, as the surprisingly solid comeback of onshore wind in the UK was completely overshadowed by the complete absence of bids for the offshore wind pool. A consequence of the £44/MWh (38.3 cents/kWh) offshore wind price cap, according to industry consensus.
