Vestas has secured a German offshore wind turbine order of 960MW for the He Dreiht project in the German North Sea from the energy company Embw.

This makes the order firm after Vestas was announced as preferred supplier on July 9, the wind turbine group writes in an announcement on Friday after the close of trading.

The order comprises 64 V236-15.0 MW wind turbines to be serviced with a five-year AOM 5000 service agreement followed by a long-term operational support agreement.

Installation is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2025 and commissioning is planned for the fourth quarter of the same year.

The V236-15.0 MW was the first ever 15MW turbine introduced to the market in February 2021, Vestas writes, pointing out that the prototype is currently undergoing an extensive testing program to ensure reliability before full type certification.
